Over time the Sawbridgeworth Local History Society has collected a lot of original source material. There are spreadsheets listing details of residents in our area at the time of the 1911 census or at the time of the 1939 register.

The Banner of Faith. The 4-page supplement to this magazine can be considered as the first Sawbridgeworth Parish Magazine. It was published from 1881 onwards and was a monthly periodical of the devotional kind published by the Church Extension Association. Sawbridgeworth specific content was added from 1883 onwards.

Our society scanned in nearly 300 pages of issues published between 1884 and 1893. The resulting files are listed in chronological order. The file names (with Banner of Faith abbreviated as BoF) should give some indication of subjects covered. Original issues of the Banner of Faith are kept at Sawbridgeworth library and are available there for private study.

A more extensive introductory article will eventually be published at our articles at PDF page.

We remain interested in seeing other BoF issues i..e. those from 1883 and those between 1893 and 1911. If you have access to any of these, let us know.

There are also a great many scanned- in articles written by Kenneth Cook in the 1990s and published at the time in the Herts and Essex Observer. Openly publishing all this material here is currently not possible, but there is material we will gladly share.

Sawbridgeworth Parish News was published in the 60s and 70s of the 20th century. Look through the files for research purposes or just to go down memory lane.
